The Gallery on the Green was established in 1960 and is the longest running artist guild in Connecticut.  Incorporated as the Canton Artist’s Guild, it was created for artists and their supporters as a non-profit organization.  The Guild consists of a very diverse and vibrant group of artists from throughout the greater Farmington Valley region.  Housed in an historic schoolhouse (circa 1872), the guild has a large main floor Founders Gallery and two additional gallery spaces with a small marketplace upstairs (the Founders gallery is now handicap accessible).

Two regional artists will have solo exhibitions on display during this same period in the 2ND floor galleries.  Joan Paul of Farmington, who studied with Prof. Ernst Lohrman & Irving Katzenstien and has won many juried awards throughout the area, will exhibit in the Upstairs gallery.  Jacqueline Gaztambide from West Hartford exhibits in the Spotlight Gallery. Jacqueline is predominantly a modern abstract impressionist working with terrestrial and universal themes in acrylic, oil and mixed media. Her new collection “Flowers” includes colorful, impressionistic images using non-traditional paint application methods more typical of painting on glass.

(There are attached images from both of these artists.)

The opening receptions for all 3 shows will be held on Saturday, August 25th from 6-9pm and the public is warmly invited. The gallery is located within sight of Rt. 44 at 5 Canton Green Rd., Canton, Ct.  Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 5 pm.

The gallery web site, www.galleryonthegreen.org provides further information about the Gallery on the Green, its artist members, membership opportunities and current shows.  New members are welcome.
