“Let’s Start School, A Kindergarten Story Time” At Canton Public Library

Starting kindergarten is a very exciting time for youngsters.  To help these youngest students anticipate the challenges and emotions of their first school experience, Canton Public Library will hold a special “Let’s Start School, A Kindergarten Story Time” on Tuesday, August 21 at 10:30 AM.  Yoga instructor Beth Griffin will be hosting the story time, which is designed to get children feeling happy and excited about starting kindergarten.  It will feature stories about starting school, fun yoga poses designed to teach children how to deal with any emotions they may be feeling about entering kindergarten, and a great school bus craft.

The yoga poses will all be related to emotions that youngsters may be feeling. If they are overexcited, they might do a balance pose to concentrate.  If they are scared, they might do a warrior pose to help them feel brave.  If they are sad, they can turn their frowns upside down with an inversion pose.
