Ex-Canton Town Clerk Has New Role Helping Town
The former longtime clerk was recently named to the board of directors of a prominent giving foundation in Canton.

CANTON, CT — A familiar face who worked at Canton Town Hall for more than two decades now has a new role in helping people.
Former Canton Town Clerk Linda Smith, who retired after 20 years last fall, was recently named to the board of directors of the Canton Community Health Fund, Inc.
The CCHF is a private, nonprofit foundation that "accepts gifts and bequests from individuals, organizations, and businesses for the benefit of all Canton residents," reads the foundation's website.

It has helped fund many community events, and programs and aided many local charities.
The town recently wrote that Smith's new role is a perfect one who has served the town as long as she has.

"For over 20 years in her role as Canton’s Town Clerk, Linda dispensed highly valued guidance and expert recommendations, with her distinctive brand of creativity, wit and professionalism," wrote the town.
Foundation officials welcomed Smith to her new post.
“We congratulate Linda and look forward to her enhancing the work of CCHF’s Board through her wide-ranging expertise, deep love of community, and practical, actionable POV that will support and complement our Mission: Contributing to the Health, Safety & Well-Being of the Canton Community,” said Sylvia Cancela, the CCHF chairperson.
