Seven teams have signed up to build a Collinsville-themed golf hole at the corner of Main Street and The Green. Last-minute teams are welcome but will have to come with everything needed to complete a hole. Members of the community can come down, watch and by 1 p.m. put in their vote for the best design and the winning team will take home a $200 Savings Bond from Collinsville Savings Society.
A golf tournament will begin at at 1:30 and continue until 4:30 p.m. Cost is $2 a round and prizes will be offered.
A portion of Main Street, from Front Street to the Green, will be closed for the event, which will also feature a craft fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a wide variety of products and art.
“It’s going to be a mish-mash of everything,” McAllister said.
Many merchants on the street will host open houses as well.
In addition, local musicians will entertain on the lawn between Gallery 101 and Husk, including Donna Gentile from noon to 12:45, Robot IQ from 1 to 2 p.m., Bipolar Jukebox from 2 to 3:15 p.m. and Poor Nephews from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m.
Ian Kaminski, catering manager and head cook at LaSalle Market, said the event will be great for business and families.
“It will bring people into town to have a happy Father’s Day and be involved with the kids and have fun,” he said.
The event is being funded as part of a $10,000 grant AT&T awarded to the Collinsville Artists Initiative. The most recent Halloween parade and holiday events have also been covered through the grant.
