Explore Common Mental Health Conditions at Canton Library Program

Learn about the three most common mental health conditions using layman's terms, with Kate Mattias, Executive Director, NAMI-CT

The neurobiological bases of some of the most common mental health conditions is the topic of an upcoming talk at Canton Public Library, as the well-respected Connecticut leader and expert, Kate Mattias, speaks about “Mental Health 101” on Tuesday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m.

In this presentation, learn about the three most common types of conditions: mood disorders, behavioral disorders and thought disorders. The topics will be discussed using a regular lay person’s vocabulary. A better understanding will help raise awareness, reduce the stigma associated with mental health disorders, and connect more people with needed help.

Kate Mattias has a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University and a law degree from Quinnipiac. She is Executive Director of Connecticut’s Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The talk is part of their mission to offer support, education, and advocacy to people living with mental illnesses. A question and answer period will follow. The program is free; although registration is requested for seating set up. Canton Public Library is located at 40 Dyer Avenue in Canton.
