Final Girls Basketball Poll Released: How Did Canton Fare?

A panel of sports media members published its final poll of the season this week.

CANTON, CT — When the final shots had been made at the state tournament finals at Mohegan Sun Arena Sunday night, sports media members from around the state got busy with their last task of the winter season - selecting the best girls basketball teams in Connecticut.

It was no surprise that Class LL champion New London was the unanimous choice of voters, as the Whalers had been hovering at or near the top all season before concluding with a 42-36 victory over top-seeded Trumbull.

Two-time Class S champion Canton placed 12th in the final balloting.
