Fire Destroys Historic Building In New Hartford
Three firefighters were injured, one critically, after a massive blaze at a building in New Hartford.
NEW HARTFORD, CT — A large fire severely damaged a historic building in New Hartford Tuesday morning, and a firefighter was rushed to the hospital due to a serious medical issue, NBC CT reported. The call reporting the fire at the multi-use building on Bridge Street came in at 2:25 a.m.
Twenty-nine fire departments were called in to fight the blaze and over 100 firefighters were at the scene, according to NBC CT. Three firefighters were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
A 26-year-old firefighter from Burlington experienced a serious medical issue and is in critical condition, according to a statement from the Burlington Fire Department.

The 20 adults and two children living in the building were all unharmed.
The New Hartford House was built in 1850 and served as the community's centerpiece on Route 44 for generations, News 12 reported.

The Victorian-era building in recent years included 14 apartments and six businesses. Previously the building was a hotel for many decades, and many residents recalled when it was painted pink in the 1970s, according to FOX 61.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The building is set to be demolished on Wednesday, according to NBC Connecticut.
