Holiday Impacts Announced For Canton Social Services

The Canton Food Bank will be closed for two weeks and the town's Dial-A-Ride service will be impacted as well.

CANTON, CT — Canton Senior & Social Services recently announced holiday impacts regarding the services it provides.

They are as follows:

• The Canton Food Bank will be closed for the last two weeks in December and will re-open Jan. 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. and Jan. 7 from 8 to 11 a.m. for food distribution.

• The mobile food pantry will be available in Simsbury: Dec 23 from 1 to 1:30 p.m., 689 Hopmeadow St. and in Avon: Dec 31, from 10 to 10:30 a.m., 35 Harris Road.

For inclement weather, the Canton Food Bank will close when the Canton schools close.

In the case of a delay, it will open for normal hours. If schools close on a Tuesday, it will plan to open on Wednesday from 8 to 11 a.m.

The department also said there will be no Dial-a-Ride service on Tuesday, Dec. 24, Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.
