Honoring Avon’s Revolutionary War Veterans

Creation of Honor Roll of Avon Veterans

The Avon’s America 250 Coordinating Committee will formally recognize and honor our town residents who served in the American Revolution with an Honor Roll plaque to be unveiled during a special ceremony in May.

Thanks to the work of local historians and community members, we have already identified more than 50 individuals who answered the call during the struggle for independence. This is a remarkable start, but we believe there are more stories to be found, and we are asking for your help.

Many families hold fragments of history—names passed down through generations, notes in family Bibles, old letters, or local traditions that point to Revolutionary War service. If you are aware of an individual who lived in Northington, as Avon was then called, and served during the Revolution, we would be grateful to learn more.
