How do you Hygge? The Danish Art of Coziness Explained

Experience the Danish art of coziness through a light meal and a chat with Canton and Simsbury Libraries

How do you Hygge? Try it yourself on Wednesday, February 7, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. when we will be Bringing Hygge to Our Community in a shared program at Simsbury Library. The Canton and Simsbury Public Libraries join together to bring the Danish cultural phenomenon of Hygge—roughly translated as “coziness”-- to the Farmington Valley.

For our shared get-together, we welcome Hanne Nordby, a native of Denmark and resident of the Farmington Valley, who will try to describe and explain the life-value and ritual-like quality of Hygge. We then will move to the library’s fireplace area for our convivial experience. Soup, salad, bread and cookies for participants are included. Of course, the atmosphere requires candles! This free program will be held in the Simsbury Public Library Program Room and Upper Level Fireplace area.

Registration is required and space is limited. Please call Canton Public Library to register. Simsbury patrons should contact the Simsbury Public Library to register. For more information, please call (860) 693-5800, email bvanness@libraryconnection.info or visit www.cantonpubliclibrary.org. Simsbury Public Library is located at 725 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.
