Memorial Day 2026 In Canton, Parade Information, Closings Announced

Memorial Day is on Monday, May 25, with several towns hosting parades honoring those who died in the line of duty.

CANTON, CT — The Town of Canton will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m., as residents gather to honor military service members who died serving the country.

The parade will travel from Dyer Avenue to Collinsville Cemetery on Huckleberry Hill Road, where a memorial service will take place following the procession.

Town officials are encouraging residents to attend the event in remembrance of “the heroes who served and sacrificed for our nation.”

Memorial Day honors military service members who died while serving in the United States armed forces.

The holiday originated after the Civil War as “Decoration Day” and became a federal holiday in 1971.

Holiday closings

In addition to the Memorial Day observance, town officials announced several holiday closures for Monday, May 25.

Canton officials said all town offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.

The Canton Public Library will also be closed on Saturday, May 23, and Monday, May 25, for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Additionally, the Library will be closed on Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30, due to a scheduled system migration.
