Mixed Results for Area Teams in Wednesday's State Tournament Action

Three of five teams from north central Connecticut won in boys basketball, while all five Division I hockey squads fell in the first round.

North central Connecticut high school teams had some success on the basketball court Wednesday night, but none on the ice.

Windsor and East Catholic (Class L) and East Windsor (Class S) were victorious in boys basketball second-round action.

Canton dropped a 77-70 decision to Westbrook, eliminating the Warriors from the Class S basketball tournament. Somers also came up short on the hardcourt.

Division I boys ice hockey play commenced Wednesday, with all five teams from the region suffering opening round losses. Northwest Catholic, Simsbury, Glastonbury, Suffield-Granby-Windsor Locks and East Catholic were all eliminated.
