New Brewery Coming to Canton

A new brewery is coming to Canton, reports the Register Citizen.

Geoff Mattheis is hoping to have Tidal River Brewing Co., a 2,000-square-foot facility at 15 Cheryl Dr., open by later this summer.

Mattheis will start small, with a three-barrel system and an eight-barrel fermenting capacity. He believes that he can produce 200 barrels in his first year of operation. Mattheis will offer direct growler sales and market to local restaurants and stores.

He will make many types of beer, but will generally be able to offer four types at a time. His signature beer will be a cream ale.

In January, the Canton Planning and Zoning Commission granted Mattheis a special permit to open the business. He has also received the necessary federal permit and has applied for a state permit as well.
