Norcom Mortgage & Insurance Remembers Co-Founder Sophie DeFronzo

Sophie DeFronzo, a mother, friend, longtime resident of Canton, CT and co-founder of Norcom Mortgage, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 12, 2015. Sophie began Norcom with her son and current President, Phil DeFronzo, in 1989 and worked here for many years, touching the lives of so many past and present employees of our company. While it is with sadness that we mark her passing, Norcom is proud to celebrate all her contributions to her family, her family business, and her community. Sophie’s son, son-in-law, and grandson continue the tradition that has made Norcom Mortgage & Insurance what it is today – one of Connecticut’s Best Places to Work and the fastest growing independent mortgage company in our market.

“Norcom recently celebrated our ‘Family Values’, and I specifically mentioned my mother as one of the foundational pieces of making Norcom a special place to work. In her passing, I am reminded of how lucky I have been to work closely with my mother, building Norcom together for many years. I am very blessed that I feel my mother’s presence every time I walk into Norcom,” said Phil DeFronzo.

Sophie served in many different capacities at Norcom throughout the years, eventually stepping into retirement in 2011. She will be remembered for her strength, sharp wit, and commitment to her family and friends.
