Porch Pirate Fears? Send Gifts To The Canton PD

The Canton Police Department is allowing residents to send their gift packages to the police station to avoid home package thefts at home.

CANTON, CT — Nothing can pour water over a holiday season more than a Grinch stealing your presents from your front porch/mailbox.

Porch pirates are the bane of a gift-giver/gift receiver's existence, but the Canton Police Department has a solution — send your presents to the local police headquarters.

Chances are, the bad guys raiding front porches will, likely, not steal from the police department.

"In the past few years, millions of Americans have had packages stolen from front porches or mailboxes before the packages reach the rightful owner."

There are a few steps to take to utize the service, which is ongoing through Dec. 24.

But, essentially, all folks need to do is use their name and list the CPD's address, then notify the CPD via phone (860-693-0221) or email (dispatch@townofcantonct.org).

"The Town of Canton and the Canton Police Department assumes no responsibility for any delays or damage to the packages or its contents," wrote the town.
