Program Matches Canton Seniors With College Kids For Friendship
The Canton Senior Center is hosting an information program Friday for an intergenerational program pairing seniors with college students.
CANTON, CT — If your grandmother in Canton suddenly is showing up at sorority or fraternity parties, you can thank a new program being unveiled byCanton Senior & Social Services.
This Friday, Feb. 9, the department is hosting a special information session for the "Tea @ 3" program.
Here's how it works: Seniors pair up with a college student volunteer for a weekly phone call of bonding and conversation, usually over a cup of tea.

The program is being sponsored by "For All Ages," a Simsbury-based nonprofit that specializes in all sorts of intergenerational programs that benefit both seniors and younger generations.
Matched senior citizens and students are considered "tea mates" and the program is over a 12-week period that also includes two Zoom events for all in the community.

Friday's information event is during the Canton Senior Center's regular lunch event,which starts at noon.
Those looking to have lunch must RSVP to 860-693-5811. No reservation is necessary if only coming for the presentation.
