Public Works Department to Clear Snow in Collinsville

Crews to work on area early Saturday morning.

Canton’s Public Works Department will again work on clearing snow from streets and sidewalks in Collinsville early Saturday morning.

“We cleared the business district of Collinsville about four weeks again and had good success,” said Director Robert Martin.

With further storms the streets and sidewalks have gotten cluttered with snow again and the department will work  on Main, River, Market and Center streets starting about 4 a.m.

Six dump trucks, two loaders and a backhoe will be used to remove snow and transport it to a large field near the Public Works Department.

“We’re trying to provide a needed service with minimal interruptions to residents and businesses,” Martin said.

The work will likely be done by about 8 a.m. Residents are asked to not park overnight on the streets. Overnight parking is available at the Town Hall lot and residents who take that option are asked to call police at 860-693-0221 and supply a marker number and contact information.
