Residents Approve Creation of Permanent Energy Committee

Group will replace and expand scope of Temporary Hydro Advisory Committee.

By a vote of 11-0 at a special town meeting this week residents voted in favor of establishing a permanent energy committee.

The seven-member group essentially replaces and expands the scope of the Temporary Hydro Advisory Committee, which began meeting in May of 2009 and by charter could not be extended past next month.

In addition to still looking into the feasibility of bringing the upper and/or lower Collinsville dams back online, the new committee will look into energy efficiency at town buildings, research potentials for clean and renewable energy, educate residents about options, identify grant opportunities and look at unique opportunities within the town.
