Sam Collins Day Committee Gears Up for Big Day
Annual event features business expo, restaurants, entertainment and more.
Sam Collins Day Committee members are busy gearing up for the 17th annual event, which takes place this year on Sept. 17.
"We're very excited this year," said event chairman Mary Tomolonius. "We've had tremendous support from the community."
The event begins with a Lions Club breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at . on Canton Springs Road.

Following that, the main event will take place from 10 to 4 p.m. at the company's field on Canton Springs Road as well as downtown Collinsville. The main site on Canton Springs will feature a business expo, Taste of Canton, a community organization tent, children's activities, inflatables and more.
Business Expo chairman Steve Roberto said about 30 local business will display their wares and/or information at the main site and many in Collinsville will host open houses or sidewalk sales.

Activities in Collinsville will include a walking tour, live music, open houses, a car display from Valley Collector Car Club, an "old fashioned" photography fundraiser at the and more.
Free shuttles will run between both sites and shuttles will also be provided for the elderly and disabled.
The event is named after Sam Collins, who, along with some family members, founded the Collins Company and built a factory and village along the Farmington River.
