Service Calls Skyrocket For Canton Responders

In 10 years, calls for help in Canton have increased 65 percent, according to Canton Fire & EMS.

CANTON, CT — The town's fire and emergency medical services department this week released its call statistics for 2023, with the final results showing a busy past year.

In fact, according to Canton Fire & EMS, calls were up 8.8 percent in 2023 compared to 2022, an increase of 142 calls to 1,763 calls total.

In addition, calls over the past decade have actually increased by 65 percent, according to Canton Fire & EMS.

The department said as more folks move into town and the community grows, demand will only increase.

"As the Town of Canton continues to grow, so will our call volume," wrote responders in an announcement. "The Town of Canton Fire & EMS is always ready to respond and meet the needs of our community."
