Shear Artistry to mark 20th anniversary with wine tasting, fashion show fundraiser
Nov. 7 event will benefit Gifts of Love, an Avon-based non-profit agency.

AVON – It’s been 20 years since Simsbury resident Janina Cummings opened Shear Artistry Day Spa & Salon in Riverdale Farms and to mark the anniversary, she will host a wine tasting and fashion show fundraiser benefiting Gifts of Love Friday, Nov. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Building 9 at Riverdale Farms, 152 Simsbury Road, Avon.
For the admission price of $20, patrons will enjoy French, Spanish and Italian wines from Traveling Vineyard and Super Cellars Warehouse Liquors, along with food provided by The Local Grill, Lyme Grill and Toshi, three restaurants in Riverdale Farms.
Music for listening and dancing will be provided by DJ Greg T, and the fashion show will feature clothing from Stars of Avon and Bodytalk. Models will receive hair and make-up touches performed by Shear Artistry staff members. Before and after photos of the models will be on display.
Those who attend will also be treated to either a massage or touch-up of their hair or make-up.
All proceeds from the event will go to Gifts of Love, an Avon-based non-profit agency that provides basic needs – food, clothing, furniture, other household items, and energy assistance – to people in the Greater Hartford area who are facing a short-term crisis.
