It’s made fun of in movies, other states say we have no accent and city folks flock to it like celebrities to a sushi bar-- yes, that little New England gem, Connecticut.
Our state does have loads of curb appeal-- from the incredible fall foliage in the hills of Kent to the multi-colored, pastel sunsets at Westport’s Compo Beach, Connecticut is beautiful and charming. But there are a few ”ugly spots” which cause risks, depending on where you live.
Safe Choice Security has put together a list, using data from the 2012 FBI Crime Statistics report, to compile the 4-1-1 on the 20 safest cities to live in Connecticut.

In our area, Simsbury ranked #10. Safe Choice Secutiry said this is why:
“Simsbury, CT is a suburb of Hartford that has been recognized as the 4th best town in Connecticut in which to live. Not too far behind is Canton at #13:
“Canton, CT is in the central part of the state, northwest of Hartford. With low crime rates maintained by the town police force, it is a charming small town in which to reside. With a rail trail and the Farmington River running through the town it is a haven for those who love kayaking, canoeing, hiking and more. This small town within an easy drive of the city has something to appeal to everyone.”
And Granby ranked #14:
“Granby, CT is also located in the northern part of the state next to Massachusetts. It is surrounded by forest, mountains and hills and is perfect for the outdoors person. It is close enough to Hartford for commuting but gives a total rural feel to residents. A combination of location, concerned citizens and a professional police force keep the crime rates low so it is perfect for anyone looking to relocate to a smaller town.”
