Valley Ballet of Canton, Ct , celebrates 35 years of classical and contemporary dance
training and performance with a presentation of “ Swan Lake, and Fire and Ice”
June 5 and 6 at Canton High School. Valley Ballet has helped to preserve Classical
Ballet History by featuring the *great classical ballets in their spring production.
In celebration of 35 years, Valley Ballet will present, “Swan Lake”, the epitome of all
classical Ballet. The original choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, “turned ballet into
theater, dance into action, and choreography into drama”. With music by Tchaikovsky, a Fairytale storyline, and lovely choreography based on the original Petipa version, the Valley Ballet will present a condensed version of the ballet which is easily accessible to both children and adults. Ballet Mistress Linda Presnakova has a rich history with the great classical ballets having trained as a ballerina in Russia. With Ms. Presnyakova’s knowledge of the classics, and director Gayle Micca’s passion for storytelling, dancers and the community are able to experience Ballet as theater..
“Fire and Ice” highlights Valley Ballet dancers in contemporary dance with choreography by Jennifer
Hazen. Total running time for the performance is 1 ½ hours including intermission. Tickets are available at Valley Ballet, 140 Albany turnpike and online at Valley Ballet.org.
