Teen Summer Fun: Social Justice League Meets at Canton Library

Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Canton Library offers the Social Justice League: a teen activism and leadership discussion group with speakers

Want to make a difference but need guidance on how? Feel the need to talk about unfair events in the world? On Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Canton Public Library will offer the “Social Justice League,” a teen activism and leadership discussion group. Meet to discuss important activism topics, and learn how you can get involved. Each week from July 2- August 6 will feature a different guest speaker and topic of conversation. Come to one meeting, or all!

July 2: The first week our guest is Ellen Salzman-Fiske of Golden Door, a Center for Immigrants, whose mission is to provide support to immigrants to navigate their new lives in this country; to thrive and become successful. Language classes, casual get-togethers, professional mentoring, voter training for new citizens, and more. Their name comes from the famous Emma Lazarus poem on the Statue of Liberty: “I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

July 9: Amy Peltier from League of Women Voters, a lawyer with experience working in prisons, will discuss political and humanitarian activism.
