The Cake Gypsy’s Winning Entry

There's been plenty of excitement at the Cake Gypsy in Canton lately.

Last week, owner Deanna Damen won first place in a cake-decorating contest at the Bushnell, which was judged by Buddy Valastro, better known as "The Cake Boss." 

Damen was exhausted from working on the cake all night but also thrilled. 

"It was a really fun, exciting, wonderful experience," she said. 

In addition the Cake Gypsy is preparing to move its retail operations into a second location at Canton Village this July and start a new Sugar Arts Academy at its current location. Various classes will be offered.

The business moved to Canton in July 2010 after operating about a year in another location.
