Although the demand has diminished the town continues to offer services while some remain without power.

Until 5:30 p.m., showers are open at Mills Pond Pool facility off of East Hill Road through the weekend. At that time, the town will re-evaluate the situation, officials said. Water is available there as well. Bring your own towels, toiletries and water containers.

Residents can also find refuge at the Community Center, which the town is running as a shelter. Meals are being served but the town urges people to support a local restaurant if capable.

In addition, residents can bring brush and spoiled food to the town's transfer station through the end of next week. The facility will once again be open Monday, a day it's usually closed.

The library continues to offer programs and a place to charge phones and computers. Users of the building are asked to check in downstairs.

At 1:27 p.m. Connecticut Light and Power estimated that approximately 50 percent or 2,495 of its 4,930 of its customers were without power.

The company retained its latest 99-percent restoration estimate for noon Sunday.

Most businesses on Route 44 and in Collinsville are open although some restaurants have limited menus. ShopRite's frozen and refrigerator sections are well stocked although a few items are sold out. The store also has plenty of wood.

Fire marshal and the town's emergency management director Adam B. Libros reminds residents to stay clear of all downed lines.
