Over the past few months, trivia night at the Crown & Hammer Restaurant and Pub has become more and more popular.
Host Brian Yurch said the weekly Thursday night event started slowly in August but has really gained steam recently.
“The first couple weeks it was minimal at best but it started to pick up,” he said. “It’s been steady growth.”

Trivia Night takes place on Thursdays, starting at approximately 8 until 11 p.m. Patrons gather in teams and Yurch asks several rounds of questions, ranging from easy to medium-level to brain busters. Points are tallied and a winning team is declared each night.
“There’s a variety of questions that we have; we cater to all ages, which I think is important,” Yurch said. “It’s great because people at the very least tend to learn something while they’re drinking.”

Yurch said new people are always welcome and that it’s nice to see people return week after week and begin friendly competitions.
“It’s nice because for the most part it’s all local people that come down here,” he said. “There’s like little rivalries, but everyone knows each other for the most part.”
The event has been attracting between five and eight teams of 2 to 8 people, which leads to a festive atmosphere.
"You can play to the crowd,” Yutch said. “It’s a great atmosphere and we enjoy it – lot of banter. It’s a good time.”
Bar Manager Nick Gencarelli said he is pleased with the response to the event.
“I don’t see us stopping anytime soon,” he said. “As long as Brian still wants to come here and ask questions, we’re going to keep rockin’ and rollin'.”
