Turtle Program with Wildlife Rehab Expert Comes to Canton Library
See live turtles and learn about how to identify different species, and genders; plus what to do to help injured ones you find.

On Saturday, June 9, at 11:00 a.m., Canton Public Library will play host to some very sensitive reptiles and their guardian, Pam Meier, in a program called, “Bringing Turtles Out of their Shells.” Turtle expert Meier, a Connecticut state permitted wildlife rehabilitator, will talk about Connecticut’s native turtles—many of which live in our area—and bring along some live chelonian friends, too (come and discover what that means!). Learn how to identify different species and genders, what to do (and not do) if you find a turtle, and what rehabilitating these ancient reptiles is all about. Turtle populations in the state are generally in decline and Meier will explain things you can do to help.
Registration is requested for this free, hour-and-a-half long program, which is recommended for ages eight and up. Canton Public Library is located at 40 Dyer Avenue in Canton.
