Penguin Plunge Fundraiser to Benefit Special Olympics Connecticut

Winsted Penguin Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics Connecticut Rescheduled to March 4th

February 15, 2017- Special Olympics Connecticut has announced that the new date for its Winsted Penguin Plunge at Highland Lake is Saturday, March 4th (instead of February 4th). Check in will begin at 10 a.m. and the Plunge will take place at noon. Highland Lake is located at 297 West Lake Street in Winsted. This annual fundraiser encourages people to come together and take the plunge into icy waters to support more than 13,000 athletes of all abilities who participate in the sports training and competitions Special Olympics Connecticut offers year-round. All are invited to participate in the Plunge, including individuals, friends and families, and teams representing schools, businesses, organizations and clubs.

The Winsted Penguin Plunge is one of five Penguin Plunges presented by Special Olympics Connecticut. Penguin Plunges provide a fun and festive atmosphere and also offer music, refreshments, awards and parades of plungers in costume to enjoy. To join in the fun, participants must be at least 8 years old and need to raise a minimum of $100. In addition to the awards for top fundraisers and best costume, participants receive incentive prizes for their fundraising efforts. Spectators are welcome.
