Women's Boutique Chain Closing Canton Store As It Winds Down Nationwide

The remaining seven Connecticut locations of a national women's boutique chain are to be shuttered.

CANTON, CT — Francesca's, a Texas-based women’s clothing and accessories chain with a seven-store presence in Connecticut, is set to shutter it's Canton store and all other state locations as part of a nationwide shutdown, according to company and industry reports.

Francesca's features clothing, jewelry, accessories, and gifts and is in the process of liquidating all its inventory and will close soon, as first reported by Women's Wear Daily.

  • The Westfarms mall on the Farmington-West Hartford line
  • The Shops at Farmington Valley in Canton
  • The Danbury Fair Mall
  • The Connecticut Post Mall in Milford
  • West Hartford Center
  • Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods
  • The Clinton Premium Outlets

Francesca's is owned by investment firms TerraMar Capital, Tiger Capital Group and SB360 Capital Group, and was acquired after a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in December 2020.

On Jan. 30, 2021, Francesca's Holdings Corporation announced the sale of substantially all of its assets to Francesca's Acquisition LLC, an affiliate of TerraMar Capital LLC.

A staff member at the Canton store said Wednesday that a liquidation sale has commenced but added no specific closing date has been announced.

A Westfarms staffer said the same thing when the store was contacted Wednesday.

The company was started in 1999. Since then, Francesca's had grown to more than 450 boutiques in 45 states. Francesca's also boasted more than 3,400 employees.
