Work To Build New Canton Boat Launch At River To Start

The construction project starts Nov. 1 and is expected to last into December.

CANTON, CT — Work to build a new boat launch providing access to the Farmington River will start on Wednesday, Nov. 1, with a portion of a hiking trail nearby closed.

The 50 Old River Road boat ramp construction project will start behind the Canton Department of Public Works building, Canton DPW officials said.

The gravel parking area will be closed for the duration of the project.

Meanwhile, the DPW said, a small section of the Farmington River Trail will be closed, with a temporary trail utilized in the gravel parking area during construction.

"Please be aware that the property to the north of the gravel lot is private property on both sides of the trail and cannot be used for parking," wrote the DPW.
