Residents and commuters should be aware that excavation work to widen Lawton Road as part of the CVS project is slated to begin Monday.
According to papers filed with the town Spazzarini Construction will begin work to widen Lawton Road as early as today. Crews can work on the roadway from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and are required to keep one lane of traffic open. Motorists should expect some delays, according to a sign on the road.
As part of the CVS project the road is being widened to provide better access to a Lawton Road entrance on to the property as well as additional turning lanes to and from Route 44.

Konover Development Corp. and Canton 44 LLC successfully obtained site plan and other approvals for the 16,000 square-foot CVS in 2011. In addition to Lawton Road, utility improvements and some changes will also be done on Route 44, including an additional traffic signal. Some improvements will also come to Lovely Street, including safer crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, town officials said.
Konover also received approval to develop two other smaller areas on the parcel on the corner of Lawton and Route 44. That would come some time after the CVS is built.
