Writer of The Simpsons Show Speaks at Canton Public Library
Mike Reiss, co-author of the new Springfield Confidential: will talk about the long running show and his new memoir

Mike Reiss, co-author of Springfield Confidential: Jokes, Secrets, and Outright Lies from a Lifetime Writing for The Simpsons, will talk about the long running show and his new memoir at the Canton Public Library on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. He’ll project and share animated clips of the show as the audience gets the inside story.
During his thirty years writing for “The Simpsons,” Mr. Reiss has won four Emmys and a Peabody Award. He ran the show in Season 4, which Entertainment Weekly magazine called “the greatest season of the greatest show in history.” In 2006, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Animation Writers Caucus.
Mr. Reiss has written nineteen children’s books, as well as “Springfield Confidential,” a best-selling memoir of his three decades at “The Simpsons.”

Not only a joke writer for such comedy legends as Johnny Carson, Joan Rivers, Garry Shandling, Mr. Reiss has provided material for an unusual source of wit, Pope Francis! For his comedic contributions to the charitable group Joke with the Pope, in 2015 Pope Francis declared Reiss “A Missionary of Joy." “The good is always rare,” says talk show host, Conan O’ Brien. “A truly great comic is rare. Mike Reiss, by definition, is a rarity.”
