Cheshire Teacher Identified As Missing Person Found Dead: UPDATE
A popular Cheshire teacher, who was once a finalist for CT Teacher of the Year, was found dead.

CHESHIRE, CT — State Police have identified the body of the missing deceased person as Cheshire High School teacher Megumi Yamamoto, 48, of Cheshire. Cheshire Police began investigating a missing person complaint Wednesday evening in the area of Mixville Road by Marion Avenue.
Police canvassed the area and located a body. Marion Avenue was closed off for an extended period of time. State Police Central District Major Crimes detectives have taken over the investigation and will work with Cheshire Police and the Office of the State Medical Examiner.
Detectives on scene will continue to canvas the neighborhood in hopes of finding out how Yamamoto arrived in the area.

Yamamoto was named Cheshire Teacher of the Year in 2011 and a finalist for Connecticut Teacher of the Year. Students were informed of her death Thursday during an advisory period, according to the Meriden Record-Journal. To sign up for Cheshire breaking news alerts and more, click here.
