E-Bikes Banned At Bartlem Park In Cheshire After ‘Significant’ Complaints: Police

CHESHIRE, CT — The operation of e-bikes has been banned in Bartlem Park in Cheshire, according to police.

Police said the Cheshire Parks and Recreation Department has received a “significant number of complaints regarding the operation of e-bikes in Bartlem Park.”

“In addition to these concerns, damage has been caused to the newly constructed Bartlem Park Bandshell area,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “To help preserve this beautiful community space and ensure it remains a safe and peaceful destination for everyone, the Parks and Recreation Department has implemented a prohibition on the use of e-bikes within Bartlem Park pursuant to Sections 11.11 and 11.17 of the Town of Cheshire Ordinance Code.”

In a follow-up post, police clarified that the ban “extends to e-bikes, e-scooters, and any other rideable vehicle equipped with a helper motor.”

“This policy is intended to help protect Bartlem Park, preserve the newly constructed Bandshell area, and ensure the park remains a safe and enjoyable space for everyone,” police wrote.

Police also said that security cameras will be installed in and around the Bartlem Park Bandshell.

“These cameras will provide continuous monitoring and recording of the area,” police wrote. “Anyone found vandalizing or tampering with park property will be investigated and prosecuted for any applicable criminal offenses.

“Bartlem Park is one of Cheshire's premier gathering places, hosting events such as the popular Bartlem Beats concert series and providing a beautiful space for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the year.
