Motor Bike Operator Charged After Driving On Trail In Cheshire: Police

The operator of a "street-legal sport bike" was charged after driving on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, according to police.

CHESHIRE, CT — The operator of a "street-legal sport bike" was charged after driving on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in Cheshire on Wednesday night, according to police.

Police said an officer "successfully intercepted" the operator on the trail.

The operator was issued a misdemeanor summons for breach of peace, misuse of a marker plate, and failure to carry registration, according to police.

"The Linear Trail has generated numerous complaints regarding motor vehicle use and other inappropriate behavior and our officers will continue to address violations and enforce the rules designed to keep the trail safe for everyone," police wrote in a post on Facebook. "We appreciate our residents who bring these concerns to our attention and our officers who take proactive action to address them."

Police are reminding residents that motor vehicles are not allowed on the trail.

"Motor vehicle? Road," police wrote. "Linear Trail? Leave it at home."
