CHESHIRE, CT — A crash involving utility poles and wires closed Peck Lane from Schoolhouse Road to West Johnson Avenue on Thursday evening, according to police.
Police advised motorists to use alternate routes.
"Also, we are aware of the traffic lights not working in the west end of town because of the situation on Peck Lane," police wrote in a post on Facebook around 6 p.m. "Utilities have been made aware and will work to get things up and running as soon as they can.
"We realize the frustration that traveling through town without the help of the traffic lights can be. Our dispatchers have been fielding tons of calls about the lights and have made all the proper notifications. They do not have any further information on timelines from the utilities or DOT. Officers are out placing temporary stop signs to help move traffic along until the lights can be fixed.
"As always, we appreciate your understanding and patience while we work through this unusual situation and will update when we have new information."
