Quinnipiac University and the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) at Touro University have entered into an agreement establishing a new pathway for qualified Quinnipiac graduates interested in pursuing a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree.

The agreement creates a streamlined admissions pathway for Quinnipiac graduates who meet established academic and application requirements. Eligible students will receive preference in the NYCPM admissions process, along with additional opportunities to engage with the college and learn more about careers in podiatric medicine. Guaranteed scholarships will be provided to students who are accepted through this pathway.

"This agreement creates an exciting opportunity for Quinnipiac students who are interested in podiatric medicine to connect their undergraduate education with professional training in the field," said Debra Liebowitz, provost of Quinnipiac University. "We are pleased to partner with Touro University and the New York College of Podiatric Medicine to provide our graduates with additional support, professional exposure and a clear pathway as they pursue careers dedicated to improving patients' health and well-being."

Dr. Michael Trepal, dean and vice president for academic affairs at New York College of Podiatric Medicine at Touro University, said, "The partnership underscores Quinnipiac's dedication to preparing students for meaningful careers in healthcare and New York College of Podiatric Medicine at Touro University's commitment to cultivating the next generation of podiatric physicians. Our goal is to always ensure that Quinnipiac students have access to high‑quality, well‑structured pathway into the podiatric profession. This new Pathway Partners Agreement provides enhanced incentives for students, streamlines advising and admissions processes, and ensures that collaboration between our institutions remains current, responsive, and aligned with best practices."

To qualify for consideration through the pathway, Quinnipiac graduates must meet specific criteria, including a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 and science GPA of 2.75, completion of their undergraduate degree before beginning the DPM program, and completion of all required prerequisite courses.

Students who meet the pathway requirements will receive preference in the admissions process; however, participation in the pathway does not guarantee admission. Final admission decisions will remain at the discretion of NYCPM. Students who participate in the pathway but do not meet the stated standards may still apply to NYCPM through its regular admissions process.

Students accepted to NYCPM through the agreement will receive a $5,000 merit-based scholarship. Eligibility for any additional merit-based scholarship funding will be determined by the NYCPM Admissions Committee.

The partnership also will bring opportunities directly to Quinnipiac's campus. NYCPM will host two suturing workshops at Quinnipiac each year, providing students with hands-on exposure to a clinical skill relevant to health professions. NYCPM also will expedite application review and provide interview priority to applicants participating in the pathway.
