"She was truly loved by her family and friends, and she will be missed more than words can express," her family wrote.

CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire community and beyond are mourning the death of Jordan Chymbor, a former local standout softball player who recently died at the age of 21.

"We are reaching out under very difficult circumstances to ask for prayers and support following the sudden and tragic passing of our dear niece, Jordan," according to a GoFundMe page that was launched by Francis and Carissa Hunter.

Chymbor had a "strong interest in the medical field and a bright future ahead of her," according to a post on the GoFundMe page.

"On October 17, Jordan experienced a sudden medical emergency that turned tragic resulting in Jordan's passing," the post reads. "We are still awaiting answers, and our family is heartbroken by this unexpected and devastating loss.

"Jordan was such a sweetheart and a wonderful young woman who meant so much to everyone around her. She was smart, loving, upbeat, and always full of life. She brought so much joy and energy to our family and was always willing to help and make those around her smile."

Chymbor was "especially wonderful with her younger cousins, always scooping them up in huge hugs, getting them laughing and smiling, and filling their time together with so much playfulness and love," according to the post.

"She also had a special place in our family holiday gatherings as our very own toastmaster," the post reads. "Everyone would look to Jordan for a toast, and she always had something heartfelt to say. She was truly loved by her family and friends, and she will be missed more than words can express.

"Her sudden passing has left her entire family and her many friends heartbroken. Along with the unimaginable grief of losing someone so young, there are many unexpected expenses related to this tragedy. Any funds raised will go toward helping cover medical, travel, funeral, and burial expenses during this incredibly difficult time."

The Cheshire High School softball team also posted a tribute to Chymbor in a post on Facebook on Wednesday night.

"Our Ram softball family is heartbroken by the loss of our former player and teammate Jordan Chymbor," the post reads. "So many of us had the privilege of knowing Jordan from a very young age, watching her grow up alongside us on the softball fields and in our schools. We will always remember her beautiful smile, her charisma, her love of fun and life, and, above all, the kind and caring human being she was.

"Our hearts are with Jordan's family, friends, teammates, and everyone who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

"Always part of our Ram family."

More than $20,000 was raised in support of Chymbor's family within the first 10 hours of the GoFundMe campaign.
