BALL and SOCKET ART GARAGE SHOW 2 opens JULY 11

Ball & Socket Arts presents the second of four planned exhibitions in its temporary satellite space Art Garage, located at 530 West Main Street in Cheshire, CT. The show, titled “Evolution of Immediacy” will be on display July 11 through August 2, 2015. The gallery is free and open to the public weekends 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The show will feature work by seven artists - Elizabeth Gourlay, Cat Balco, Karen Schifano, Lucy Mink, Susan Post, Hannah Calcagni, and Kathryn Frund.

“Each painter included in Evolution of Immediacy explores in their own way the relationship between structure and gesture,” says Ball & Socket Arts Co-Founder and show curator Kevin Daly. “There is a playful intermingling of the delicate, expressive touch of the artist and a more rigid pattern or geometric composition. The synergy between the two creates visual experiences that are once harmonious and dynamic.”

Art Garage is a project of Ball & Socket Arts, a major new arts and community center under development in Cheshire. The mission of the project is to give the public a taste of what is to come when the center opens in 2017 and to provide a point of contact between the public and founders Kevin Daly, Jeffrey Guimond and Ilona Somogyi, who are often present to meet people and talk about the project. Art Garage will be open through October 3, 2015.

Two more exhibitions will follow “Evolution of Immediacy.” Show 3 opens August 8 and Show 4 opens September 5.
