Calling CT Artists! Funky Art Walk Saturday, August 4th

The Funky Monkey Cafe & Gallery, in association with Artsplace, Drescher Insurance and Sally Bowman Real Estate of Cheshire, invites artists to apply for acceptance to participate in The First Annual Funky Arts Walk located on the courtyard and along the red brick walkways of The Watch Factory Shoppes in Cheshire, CT.

In an effort to bring more art to the community and more of the community to artists, The Funky Monkey Cafe & Gallery is hosting The First Annual Funky Arts Walk on Saturday August 4, 2012 from 11:00am to 7:00pm.

The Funky Monkey Cafe & Gallery is a warm and welcoming arts cafe hosting weekly live music and monthly stand-up comedy, storytelling, poetry slams and art receptions while serving creative comfort food, craft beer and wine, fair trade organic coffee, espresso drinks, fruit smoothies, teas and decadent desserts. Located at The Watch Factory Shoppes on 130 Elm Street, off Rte. 68 in Cheshire, CT across from Cheshire Academy, the cafe's gallery currently has two-year wait list to show. www.thefunkymonkeycafe.com.

Much like the work that can be found at The Funky Monkey, the Art Walk will be an eclectic mix of graphic art, fabric arts, photography, upscale jewelry, sculpture, painters of all genres, pottery, silver and metal works.

* The Cost to apply is FREE

Upon acceptance there is a small fee $25.00 to cover advertising costs.

This Art Walk intends to bridge the gap between the community and the artists. We understand that getting your artwork to the public is usually the most difficult part of being an artist. It certainly is when you're trying to support yourself as an artist. With that in mind we are keeping the cost low but our expectations high. That's why we have chosen to make this a juried event.

During Art Walk artists will be encouraged to work on a piece, demonstrate their technique, or discuss and share their inspiration while displaying their artworks for sale. All participants will be provided with a 6x8 space. Some spaces are in full shade. Individual spaces will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. So apply early! Electricity is available on a limited basis for artists that require it.

Advertising is being provided by The Funky Monkey Cafe & Gallery as well as our sponsors.  Accepted Artists will be advertised on the 'Funky Art Walk' event page, CPFA-Artsplace of Cheshire and The Funky Monkey Cafe & Gallery pages on Facebook, through Constant Contact email newsletters from Artsplace and The Funky Monkey Cafe & Gallery, and via e-newspaper The Patch, CT.Now, area newspaper press releases.
The sooner you apply and are confirmed as a participant, the more free advertising you will receive!

Post no more than (3) images of your work with a short description of your process. Please note if you need electric outlet.

Artists will be accepted and notified of participation on an ongoing basis as they are accepted. All confirmation of acceptance is guaranteed by Monday July 16.

All artist that have been chosen to participate are required to have the $25 fee due paid on or before July 20th. We will accept Cash or Credit and check.
