Exposure to light at night may cause weight gain
Exposure to light at night may cause weight gain.
Real Age reports that there may be a connection between exposure to light during the night and weight gain. In a study, one group of mice was exposed to dim light and another group was kept in total darkness at night. Both groups received the same amount of food. The mice that were exposed to dim light gained 50% more body weight after 8 weeks. Researchers believe that even a small amount of light may interfere with melatonin levels, a hormone that influences the metabolism.
