Muscles get stronger during the eccentric part of an excercise.

Increase strength gains by slowing down the eccentric part of a lift.

Did you know that muscles experience the most strength benefit from the eccentric or the lowering of the weight after a lift?  Lower the weight twice as slow as you lifted for the best training effect.  In a bicep curl, lift the dumbbell in two seconds and lower it down in four.
