Why Re-Designing Your Outdated Website Is Important?

So you spent a lot of time and money at the inception of your company to invest in a website, it was pitched to you as the storefront to the world for your business, this is where people will go to learn more about you and hopefully invest in your services or purchase your products. 

This is still true – now compare the idea of a websit being a storefront to an aging building in need of re-painting, or adding a new sign out front, adding newer chairs for people to sit in, etc. How is your website any different after a few years... why not consider adding a new coat of paint to your website, a re-design can be as simple as adding new elements (photos, videos, social media tools), changing a template around, expanding pages to cover more services or products then you started off with.

Your potential clients are researching your business online before they decide to do business with you.  If you have had the same website design for more than five years then it may be time to consider redesigning your web site.

Just as we see the next new iPhone come out, web technology changes constantly too – and users tolerances decrease, they expect fast loading sites, mobile friendly interfaces, easy to use navigation, and almost expect the site to spell out exactly what they were looking for.

If a potential customer used a google search to find you and doesn’t see what they want within just a few seconds or clicks – they will hop back to the search result and go to the next. Some (myself included) will open several tabs simultaneously and scan each one before going to the next page. This is why it becomes important to keep your site competitive.

Is your site equipped to engage customers or have them engage you? When redesigning a website key elements to consider are contact forms, call outs to help areas, making sure the correct phone numbers and addresses are displayed.

As the owner of your company you need to ask yourself is your website as professional as others in your industry? And the scariest reality is some visitors will decide whether or not to contact you based on the appearance of your web site alone.

Beyond appearance of a website and its content – the behind the scenes magic that is SEO, Search Engine Optimization, is crucial to the success of a site with little added dollars in a marketing budget. Driving people to the site with using findable keywords, correctly coded and tagged images and building strong page content is free in the sense if people can find you when searching you did not have to pay per click (PPC) from a directory to get them.
