Cars Stolen, Vehicles Burglarized Overnight in Cheshire: Police
Police say they are investigating a number of stolen vehicles and thefts from motor vehicles that occurred overnight in Cheshire.

Cheshire, CT — Cheshire Police are investigating a number of stolen vehicles and thefts from motor vehicles that occurred during the overnight and early morning hours of Tuesday, June 28, according to police.
At least one stolen vehicle was taken from inside a garage that had an unsecured exterior door, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland.
Sutherland said the thefts occurred in the neighborhoods including and surrounding Avon Boulevard, Brentwood Drive and Eastgate Drive.

“Communities around the state are continuing to experience thefts from motor vehicles,” Sutherland said in a press release. “The majority of these thefts occur during the overnight hours, but this crime occurs at all times throughout the day.
“These thefts from motor vehicles continue to be a crime of opportunity.”

The perpetrators of these crimes are looking for motor vehicles with:
- Unsecure doors
- Windows left down
- Valuables left in sight
- Keys in the vehicle
The Cheshire Police Department reminds residents to:
- Bring in valuables from the vehicle during the overnight hours
- Lock vehicles when not in use
- Not leave valuables in sight when parked in public or private areas
- Not leave keys, or ignition fobs, in the vehicle whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked
“While the Cheshire Police Department will continue to investigate these crimes, we are asking for everyone’s assistance in preventing the occurrence of this crime,” Sutherland said.
