CHESHIRE, CT — A Cheshire resident has died from complications of the new coronavirus, officials announced Wednesday. The resident, a 73-year-old woman with underlying medical issues, is the town’s first death related to COVID-19.

“The community offers its deepest sympathy to the family and friends for the loss of their loved one,” officials wrote in a news release.

“Residents are strongly urged to continue to stay home, to adhere to social distancing, to avoid interpersonal contact as much as possible, to practice respiratory hygiene (cover your cough and sneeze with a disposable tissue), to wash your hands and avoid touching your face, and to disinfect surfaces,” officials said.
