The six referendum questions for various capital projects were approved by voters in Tuesday’s municipal election.

Cheshire Republicans retained control of the Town Council by a 5-4 margin while the Democrats took control of the Board of Education, according to the New Haven Register.

Luther Turmelle of the Register reports incumbent Republicans Tim Slocum, Sylvia Nichols, Rob Oris and Tom Ruocco all won re-election while incumbent Democrats Patti Flynn Harris, Peter Talbot and Liz Linehan also will return to the council.

Michael Ecke defeated Sherwood “Woody” Dawson in the first district to give the Democrats an additional seat, according to Turmelle.
