Family:
My husband Jimmy and I raised our son, Jamie (37), and our daughters, Maureen (36) and Siobhan(31), here in Cheshire, where we have lived for 37 years.
Experience: ZBA
Family in government: No
The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
School Modernization seems to be what everyone is concerned with right now. I would like to see an actual plan go out for referendum that includes green technology and project labor agreements. This way, not only will the buildings be done correctly the first time but the savings will continue far into the future, and as will the quality of our children's education.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I am only running against one other candidate, and we both support the blight ordinance. But I feel the only way to get things done quickly is to collaborate with the entire political spectrum. One party control leads to slow results.
Accomplishments:
My diverse experience ranges from teaching, to serving on PTAs, to being Vice President of a nonprofit organization. It includes running a consignment shop, managing a painting contracting business, serving on town commissions and starting my tax business. This wide-ranging background has given me the skills and understanding needed to work with a variety of people.
Other issues:
I believe our town government would benefit from fresh perspectives, transparency, inclusion and diversity. It’s important to listen to each other, and to all our residents. I truly enjoy hearing about constituents’ concerns. Politics has become divisive lately, and I want to help fix that. Now that I’m self-employed, I have the time to fully commit to being a member of the Council, so when I was asked to run, and I said yes!
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I have been endorsed by both the New Haven and the CT State Building Trades Councils.
