Cheshire Election 2021: David Borowy Running For Town Council

CHESHIRE, CT — The 2021 municipal election is heating up in Cheshire with plenty of races on the ballot.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 2 and cast their ballots for seats on the Town Council, Board of Education, Planning and Zoning Commission and more.

Cheshire Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Republican David Borowy, 59, is running for re-election as Cheshire Town Council At-Large.

Occupation: District Manager Jackson Hewitt

Family: Wife Stephanie. 3 sons all CHS grads

Experience: Town council 18 years

Family in government: Wife is school psychologist for Region 16

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

Taxes and spending. I will continue to hold taxes to a reasonable rate while using efficiencies to save money to keep the level of services our residents expect.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I feel spending and taxing should be a balance between those that want high level of services and those on a fixed income or may not want to pay for a large level of local services from their government.

Accomplishments:

As Budget Committee chairman, I shepherded a budget through the council with no tax increase last year while fully funding schools, social services, police, and public works to the level residents expect.

Other issues:

I believe in proper investments to improve our community for all. But limited spending increases are what I am hearing as I visit hundreds of homes this fall taking to residents.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I am proud to be part of the leadership team for Cheshire. We have led us through COVID and kept services operating effectively and efficiently.
