The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Currently, I believe our most pressing issue is the division I see and feel as a community member and certainly, as a candidate. I know that to keep our town on a positive, forward moving path and to accomplish our strategic goals, this must change. Local politics are typically those that affect us the most and yet oftentimes, they can be easy to tune out. Division from the national stage has trickled down somewhat, but Cheshire has critical business to handle and important projects on the table! For these reasons, I intend to serve as a Councilor as I do as a Commissioner and Committee member- bipartisan and free of rhetoric. I vow to be the embedded representative in my district that any voter can access and trust. Collaboration, good will, and keeping Cheshire’s best interest at the forefront will go a long way as I work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get things done in an efficient and effective manner. Cheshire’s excellent reputation of decency and civility is a priority of mine as I aim to lead by example and preserve, promote and protect this incredible community!
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I like to think we have more similarities than differences in that we truly want what’s best for our neighbors and our own families to enjoy all that this community has to offer. Some critical differences that set me apart from my opponent would include my enthusiasm, my education and my diversity as a candidate. I do not plan to serve any differently than I’ve campaigned and that is with zeal and determination. I feel I can bring a strong, new energy to council chambers and have a fresher take on town business and any issues we face as a community. I know I have the capacity given my background in social science and several advanced degrees in education and leadership. I know how to get creative, problem solve and offer solutions. Finally, I am proud to represent a far wider demographic as a young, female candidate who happens to enjoy life beside my amazing wife. As a Cheshire transplant myself, I feel Cheshirites and new residents, alike, will find it easy to relate to me in a common love and appreciation for Cheshire while also trusting me to be their voice. I plan to grow these relationships by remaining compassionate, transparent and present as a representative and a leader.
Accomplishments:
I’m very proud to currently serve this community as a public safety commissioner and committee member. This has allowed me to get to know my neighbors and assist them in so many instances such as working with CPD on traffic safety concerns, providing signage, managing lines of communication between the commission and the public and arranging for small scale neighborhood upgrades that enhance citizens’ level of personal safety and quality of life. This evidence points to my desire to be of service and take action. Aside from my service to Cheshire, I am very proud of my accomplishments as a life long learner and leadership roles in my career. This has required a level of time management, organization, perseverance and energy necessary to filling this post as town councilor.
Other issues:
As a fiscal conservative and social moderate, I champion responsible spending and policy that supports affordability and community services for all. My vision is to continue Cheshire’s position as an educational front runner, desirable business and development location and a safe, sought-after residential haven.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
Mostly, I’d like my voters to know that I love this town and intend on keeping it one of the best places to build a life, raise a family, and have opportunities to do business. You can count on me to work to keep your taxes low yet have a healthy share of resources and services. I have the time and passion to commit and give back to the place we call home. Your vote will allow me to be the voice of Cheshire’s values, strategic goals, and priorities.
